14 February 2018

51 Canadas, 55 Greylags & single Pinkfoot, 8 Gadwall, 16 Tufteds, 2 Goldeneye, 7 Goosander, 2 Oystercatchers, 256 Lapwings, a Knot came in at 1100 in a snow flurry and briefly landed on the ice in the centre of the reservoir; only the second February record here of a bird that has become less frequent despite good coverage, a single record last year (summer adult on 19 Jul) was the first since Nov 2014. Rare in spring/winter, most records are between Aug & Nov (usually singles with a best of three on 20 Sep 1989), an adult Herring Gull with a yellow colour-ring on the left leg was too distant unfortunately, 5 Common Gulls, c80 Linnets.
