21 June 2017

2 Mute Swans, 15 Mandarins, 3 Teal, a female Gadwall with nine small ducklings at the south end follows on from last year’s first breeding record-this group was also seen yesterday, 24 Tufteds, still two LRPlover chicks in front of the public hide and a new brood of two Lapwing chicks in front of the oak tree-the fifth this year so far, 2 Willow Tits. As the first of the autumn’s returning waders was seen yesterday and conditions look good it might be worth putting on record that 35 species have been recorded here including Avocet(6 records), Kentish Plover(2), Dotterel(1), Temminck’s Stint(1), Pectoral Sandpiper(2), Purple Sandpiper(3), Spotted Sandpiper(1), Grey(4) & Wilson’s Phalarope(1). So, plenty to go at still.
