POOLS BROOK COUNTRY PARK   A juv. Glaucous Gull on 27th Jan.

POOLS BROOK MARSH   A Woodcock on 27th Jan.

CARSINGTON WATER   The Great Northern Diver still present and showing well from Stones Island on 27th Jan.  Also present were 44 Great Crested Grebes, 20 Cormorants, 1 Shelduck, 6 Wigeon, 38 Teal, 74 Pochard, 158 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 1 Oystercatcher, 392 Lapwing, 2 Redshank, 1 Common Gull, 1 Great Black Backed Gull, 2 Tree Sparrows and c25 Goldfinch. The 15 Whooper Swans were still present on 20th Jan.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   A juv Iceland Gull briefly mid-afternoon on 25th Jan before it left to the South.

FOREMAEK RESERVOIR   The 3rd winter Glaucous Gull again roosted on 25th Jan.

BEELEY TRIANGLE   The Great Grey Shrike still present on 25th Jan.

WILNE LANE, CHURCH WILNE   The Great Grey Shrike still present and showing well on 27th Jan. Usually to be found in hedges either side of the road by the white and red posts about 2/3rds the way down the single track road on the left hand  side. Please keep out of the fields. On 24th Jan c50 Yellowhammers.

CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   The Siberian Chiffchaff still present on 27th Jan.

CROMFORD AREA   Still at least 2 Hawfinches on 26th Jan.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   The Bittern still present on 21st Jan briefly in front of platform 4.

SHIPLEY COUNTRY PARK   A Whooper Swan was in a small lead on a virtually frozen Shipley Lake on 20th Jan. Also present 3 Shoveler, 3 Pochard, c35 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel and c50 Redwing.

STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR   On 22nd Jan 36 Great Crested Grebes, 11 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 4 Wigeon, 73 Teal, 1 Pochard, 62 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel, 8 Common Gulls, 1 Great Black Backed Gull, c50 Lesser Redpolls and 3 Mealy Redpolls

ASTON-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS   On 23rd Jan 6 Little Grebes, 15 Great C rested Grebes, 40 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 9 Grey Lag Geese, 177 Wigeon, 54 Gadwall, 64 Teal, 7 Shoveler, 25 Pochard, 122 Tufted Duck, 22 Goldeneye, 1 Smew-drake, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel, 2 Peregrines, 1 Water Rail, 1 Common Gull and a Great Black Backed Gull.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS    On 24th Jan 3 Little Grebes, 23 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Cormorants, 4 Little Egrets,5 Grey Herons, 1 Grey Lag Goose, 14 Wigeon, 5 Gadwall, 34 Pochard, 179 Tufted Duck, 10 Goldeneye, 12Goosanders and 2 Common Gulls.

ST CHADS WATER   On 24th Jan 1 Cormorant,10 Tufted Duck and 3 Goosanders.

CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR   On 24th Jan 10 Little Grebes, 9 Great C rested Grebes, 24 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 9 Gadwall, 6 Pochard, 150 Tufted Duck,14 Goldeneye, 234 Coot, 3 Common Gulls, 1 Herring Gull and 1 Grey Wagtail.

AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS   On 24th Jan 1 Woodcock, On 25th Jan 3 Cormorants, 21 Mute Swans, 32 Wigeon, 7 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 21 Tufted Duck, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3  Common Buzzards, 74 Coot, 2 Snipe, c125 Wood Pigeons and a Raven flew SW.
