CARSINGTON WATER   The returning adult Great Northern Diver still present off Stones Island on 7th Dec. On 2nd Dec 2 Whooper Swans and 15 Pintail. A Common Sandpiper on 5th Dec. On 6th Dec a Goshawk, a Shelduck and a Curlew.

AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS   On 5th Dec 9 Jack Snipe were present with just 1 on 7th Dec. These birds are on the private part of the area and cannot be seen from any public roads. Also on 7th Dec 3 Cormorants, 17 Mute Sans, 43 Wigeon, 4 Gadwall, 12 Tufted Duck, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 94 Coot, 1 Common Gull, 2 Herring Gulls flew North, 1 Green Woodpecker, 5 Blackbirds, 20 Fieldfares, 2 Long Tailed Tits. 4 Linnets, c15 Goldfinch and a Bullfinch.

OSMASTON PARK   On 5th Dec a Red Kite and 8 Common Buzzards.

ST CHADS WATER   On 3rd Dec 3 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Cormorants, 1 Wigeon,1 Shoveler, 1 Pochard, 16 Tufted Duck and 8 Goosander. On 6th Dec 4 Great Crested Grebes and 4 Goosander.

FOREMARK RESERVOIR   On 4th Dec 1 Little Grebe, 12 Great Crested Grebes, 22 Cormorants, 82 Mallard. 1 Shoveler, 12 Tufted Duck,18 Goosander and 29 Coot. The Gull Roost consisted of c15,000 Black Headed Gulls, c600 Common Gulls, c2,000 Lesser Black Backed Gulls, c400 Herring Gulls, 7 Yellow Legged Gulls-ads, 5 Caspian Gulls-3ads,1 x 3rd winter and 1  x 2nd winter and c50 Great Black Backed Gulls

ASTON-ON-TRENT GTAVEL PITS   On 5th Dec 6 Little Grebes, 20 Great Crested Grebes, 30 Cormorants, 4 Grey Herons, 18 Grey Lag Geese, 183 Canada Geese, 49 Wigeon, 17 Gadwall, 26 Teal, 24 Shoveler, 13 Pochard, 138 Tufted Duck, 26 Goldeneye, 1 Goosander, 3 Water Rails, 4 Common Gulls, 1 Caspian Gull-ad, 1 Great Black Backed Gull, 7 Blackbirds, c155 Fieldfares, c60 Redwing, 10 Long Tailed Tits and c20 Lesser Redpolls.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   On 6th Dec 1 Little Grebe, 18 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Cormorant, 2 Little Egrets, 4 Grey Herons, 19 Wigeon, 3 Gadwall, 2 Teal, 15 Pochard, 128 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel, 2 Common Gulls, c65 Fieldfares, c15 Redwing.

CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR   On 6th Dec 5 Little Grebes, 23 Great Crested Grebes, 15 Cormorants, 2 Wigeon, 3 Gadwall, 10 Pochard, 171 Tufted Duck, 8 Goldeneye  and 277 Coot

WILNE LANE, CHURCH WILNE   On 3rd Dec 3 Grey Herons, 15 Blackbirds, 5 Fieldfares, c50 Redwings, c10 Chaffinches, 2 Bullfinches, 3 Yellowhammers and c10 Reed Buntings. On 7th Dec1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 1 Merlin-fem,c150 Fieldfares, c10 Redwings and c30 Chaffinches. There has been one/two Stonechats in this area as well recently.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   On 3rd Dec a 1st winter Caspian Gull and 2 ad, Yellow Legged Gull roosted. One Yellow Legged Gull roosted from 4-6th Dec with a first year on 7th Dec. The 2nd winter Caspian Gull again roosted on 5/6th Dec. At least 1 Woodcock seen to leave Carr Wood at dusk on 3rd Dec.

HAYFIELD   10 Waxwing reported on 3rd Dec-a good number so far this winter when this  species has been very scarce.

CENTRAL DERBYSHIRE   A Great Grey Shrike on 3rd Dec.

WILLINGBTON GBRAVEL P;ITS   On 3rd Dec 7 Egyptian Geese and a Common Sandpiper. The Bittern was seen again on 4th Dec
