OGSTON RESERVOIR   An imm. male Back Redstart in front of the members hide on 6th July with 1/2 Ospreys here most days recently. Still up to 3 Little Egrets here but 5 on 3/7 July.

CARSINGTON WATER   A colour ringed sub-adult Caspian Gull spent 20 minutes in front of the Sheepwash Hide mid-afternoon on 7th July. Also a female Gadwall here with 5 young thought to be the first proved breeding record of this species here.. On 5th July an Osprey, 6+Little Ringed Plovers, 8+Redshank and 2 Curlew. On 3rd July 5 Black Tailed Godwits and 6+ Little Ringed Plovers. On 2nd July 17 Common Scoters with a female Common Scoter on 1st July. Seven Crossbills on 28/29th June. Up to 3 Red Crested Pochard throughout this period.

RED KITES   Single birds noted at Linton on 28th June, Aston-on-Trent on 3rd July and Allestree on 4th July.

SCREETHAM LANE   A singing male Quail still present on 30th June.

BELPER   An Osprey flew over on 4th July.

WILLINGTON GP   The resident pair of Lesser Black Backed Gulls have been proved to breed with 1 young noted on “The spit” from 4th July. This is only the 3rd site breeding has occurred in the County and the 1st ever in the south of Derbyshire. Two Black Tailed Godwits briefly on 8th July with 3 Grasshopper Warblers and 3 Little Egrets on 6th July. On 29 June 7 Little Egrets with 3 Common Sandpipers on 2nd July.

HARLAND EDGE   A Hobby, 3 Kestrels and a Common Buzzard on 3rd July.

CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR   On 5th July 19 Great Crested Grebes, 8 Cormorants, 1 Pochard, 51 Tufted Duck, 1 Common Sandpiper, 8 Common Terns and c50 Sand Martins.

FLOODED HORSE PADDOCKS, WILNE LANE, CHURCH WILNE   On 5th July 1 Oystercatcher, c50 Sand Martins and a juv. Yellow Wagtail.
