Derbyshire 2 White-fronted Goose flew over Carsington Water DE6 1ST SK241515

Thanks to Rod Key for the following:-

YELLOW BROWED WARBLER   One of these delightful little sprites was found on Stones Island at Carsington Water mid-morning on 2nd Oct. It remained all day but was very elusive at times but had departed overnight. A possible was claimed from Shipley Lake on 5th Oct. So far 3 reports in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully more to come.

CARSINGTON WATER   6 Adult Whopper Swans flew in mid-morning on 1st Oct but flew of West at 10.40 a.m. A fem/imm. Red Breasted Merganser on 4th Oct along with a Goosander and a Goldeneye. Also 1 Little Egret, 3 Pintail, a Water Rail, a Yellow Legged Gull, a Swallow and 49 Redwing. On 7th Oct a Ringed Plover, a dunlin and 350 Redwing and a Fieldfare. On 8th Oct a very late Reed Warbler, 850 Redwing flew SW and 200 Pink Footed Geese flew East. Also present a Ringed plover, a Red Crested Pochard and a Common Sandpiper. On 9th Oct 2 White Fronted Geese flew through.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   On 1st October 3 Black Tailed Godwits flew NW and a Merlin and a Peregrine Falcon noted. On 2nd Oct 57 Redwing flew SW and 2 Common Gulls present. On 3rd Oct a Marsh Harrier briefly early morning before it left to the Se and a Green Sandpiper. Also a Little Egret, the usual ad. Yellow Legged Gull, c20 Swallows and c5 House Martins, c70 Redwing and a Brambling.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   The Bittern showed again on 2/3rd  October. With a Common Sandpiper and a Whitethroat on 2nd Oct and a Whinchat on 3rd Oct. A Caspian Gull and 7 Common Gulls on 5th Oct.

ANFIELD RESERVOIR   5 Whooper Swans on 4th Oct.

PLEASLEY COLLIERY  A very late Little Ringed Plover and a Ringed Plover on 4th Oct.

ST.CHADS WATER   1 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Cormorants, 35 Greylag Geese, 292 Canada Geese, 2 Greylag x Canada Geese hybrids, 8 Wigeon, 2 Gadwall, 2 Teal, 22 Tufted Duck and 60 Coot on 5th Oct.

CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR   On 5th Oct. 3 Little Grebes, 41 Great Crested Grebes, 44 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 8 Wigeon, 2 Shoveler, 9 Pochard, 190 Tufted Duck,166 Coot and a Common Sandpiper.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GP   A report of 2 Red Breasted Mergansers on the R.Trent on 5th Oct. On 6th Oct. 1 Little Grebe, 26 Great Crested Grebes, 29 Cormorants, 2 Little Egrets, 11 Grey Herons, 30 Mute Swans, 195 Grey Lag Geese, 140 Canada Geese, 354 Wigeon, 57 Gadwall, 18 Teal, 31 Shoveler, 5 Pochard, 265 Tufted Duck, 1 Water Rail, 8 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 1 Common Sandpiper, 2 Common Gulls-1st winters, 100 Lesser Black Backed Gulls, 4 Caspian Gulls-3 ads and a 2nd winter, 3 Yellow Legged Gulls-2 ads and a 2nd winter, 2 Swallows flew SW and 15 Goldfinch. REDWINGS   This winter thrush has appeared in good numbers quite early this year with 112 at Chaddesden on 2nd Oct, 5 at Chellaston and 12 at Buxton on 3rd Oct with 100 over Kinder Scout on 6th Oct. One/twos reported elsewhere.

FOREMARK RESERVOIR   A Greenshank on 1st Oct.

LINACRE RESERVOIR   The imm. Shag still present on 1st Oct. along with 36 Mandarin.

PINK FOOTED GEESE   100 over Upper Loads and 80 over Loscoe Dam on 8th Oct. A report of 100 over Kedleston Park on 2nd Oct
