DO OGSTON’S BIRDS INTEREST YOU?
The Ogston Bird Club is for all those who are interested in birds, their observation, study and conservation and is an opportunity to gain further insights into the birds at one of Derbyshire’s premier bird watching sites.
The Ogston Bird Club was formed in 1969 to fill a gap in the Derbyshire bird scene. It is intended to run as informally as possible whilst meeting the needs of birdwatchers across the ornithological spectrum.
The Ogston Bird Club publishes a “Newsletter” to try and link the membership to each other providing information on what’s going on, current issues and forthcoming events on the Ogston bird scene. The “Newsletter” contains a mixture of topical articles, news items and a comprehensive summary of the bird sightings.
YOUR BIRD RECORDS
The Ogston Bird Club and its Recorder are responsible for collecting all records of birds seen around the reservoir and Carr Wood each year and for preparing the annual report. The report is produced to a very high standard and is available free to Ogston Bird Club members.
WHY JOIN OGSTON BIRD CLUB
Around 240 species of birds have been seen and recorded around the Ogston Reservoir and Carr Wood recording areas. Of these, several species regularly breed in the area.
By joining the Ogston Bird Club you can increase your knowledge of the area’s birds and wildlife and support the club in its further aims to provide a place for everybody to watch birds and wildlife.
The Ogston Bird Club can provide people with that little extra information and knowledge to enjoy your bird watching and increase your expertise of birds at the same time.
The Ogston Bird Club can also provide you with a chance to meet some of the regulars down in the hides and share and compare experiences with other bird watchers.
You can also get involved with conservation work around the reservoir area by joining in with one of our organised working parties (these usually take place during the autumn and winter periods).
So is the Ogston Bird Club for you? Your membership will include the following:
