JMNR butterfly and dragonfly transects – 17th June 2017

Week 12 for the butterfly transect. John Parlby wasted no time, getting to the reserve on the first day of the recording week to enjoy the sunny, hot (27 degrees) and windless conditions. Green-veined White (4), Large Skipper (8), Meadow Brown (2, possibly 3), Small Heath, and Speckled Wood (3). The sighting of the Small Heath was only the second recorded during transect walks since week 11 of 2013.
On the adult dragonfly/damselfly transect it was the turn of the Hide Pond, where John noted both Azure (2) and Large Red Damselflies (5) active.
