JMNR Butterfly Transect – 14th April 2018

Nikki Mahadevan carried out the butterfly transect for week 2 on the only day of the week when the sun made an appearance! No butterflies were recorded during the transect although a Peacock butterfly was seen flying over the middle of the site afterwards.

Other sightings: Chiffchaff, Mallards, G tit, B tit, Kestrel, Magpie, Pheasant (heard), Heron, C Crow, female Blackcap, Wood pigeon, Wren, Mandarin(seen in evening when setting up moth trap). Bumblebees, Honeybee, 7-Spot ladybird. A Jumping Zebra Spider on Hide window (Salticus scenicus).Frogspawn in Middle and Hide ponds, frogs and toads mating in Bottom Pond. In flower: Wood Anemone, Coltsfoot, Lesser Celandine, Dogs Mercury, Cowslip, Primrose, Dandelion, Daisy, Opp. leaf saxifrage, Daffodils, Bittercress sp.
