JMNR Sighting – 23rd May 2019

Sightings and butterfly transect week 8 – Nikki M, 13:20, 20°C, sunshine 95%, wind B3

Summary of butterflies seen: 3 Brimstone, 1 Small White, 4 Green-veined White, 7 Orange tip, 3 Peacock, 2 Speckled Wood (2o butterflies).

Moths: Adela reaumurella, Grapholita jungiella,

5 Azure damselfly, 6 Large Red damselfly (incl 1 pair in wheel). Tadpoles in Bottom Pond. Rhingia campestris (hoverfly), Red and Black froghopper, Common Malachite Beetle  (Malachius bipustulatus), Leucozona lucorum (hoverfly), Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis), Tephritis neesii (a fly).

Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Collared Dove, Goldfinch, Bullfinch, Robin, Blackbird, Moorhen, Wood Pigeon, Carrion Crow, Buzzard.

In flower: Guelder Rose, Holly, Horse Chestnut, Hawthorn, Buttercup, Speedwell sp., Cow Parsley, Mouse ear, Cuckoo flower, Bluebell (finishing), Stitchwort sp. Ground Ivy, Hedge Mustard, Forget me not, Red Campion, Red Clover, Yellow Flag Iris, Dandelion, Tufted Vetch, Birds Foot trefoil, Shining Cranesbill, Yellow Archangel, Ragged Robin (around Middle Pond).
