JMNR Sightings and Butterfly Transect – April 22nd 2019

Nikki M – 11 am, 21 C, Wind N B1, Sunny no clouds

Summary of the weekly butterfly transect was as follows: Orange tip 24, Brimstone 2, Small Tortoiseshell 2, Peacock 3, Speckled Wood 2 and an unidentified White. An additional 4 Orange tip and 1 Speckled Wood were seen off transect.

A Large Red damselfly was seen flying over the hedge near the gate.

Other sightings: Whitethroat, Blackbird, Blue tit, Chiffchaff (heard), 1 Moorhen called from Hide Pond. Red-tailed Bumblebee, 7-spot Ladybird, frogs heard near brook.

Flowering plants:  Lesser Celandine, Forget-me-not sp., Wood Anemone, Dandelion, Cuckoo Flower, Red Campion, Daisy, Cowslip, Dogs Mercury, opp. Leaved saxifrage, Bluebells, Primrose, Bitter-cress sp., Jack by the Hedge, Greater Stitchwort, Ground Ivy. Hawthorn Blossom just starting to open in a few spots.
