JMNR – Work Party Report May 6th 2017

This month’s work party was carried out a little earlier in the month so that the main task, cutting back and digging up roots of brambles encroaching on paths, could be completed without disturbing nesting birds. As a consequence, only two members attended the work party which was in direct competition with the monthly Ogston guided walk!

The site was alive with birdsong and sightings included:
Female Mandarin with around 10 ducklings, male Mallard, nesting Long-tailed tits, Great tit, Blue tit, Chiffchaff, Whitethroat, Robin, Wren, Carrion Crow, Wood Pigeon, Blackbird. Buttercups in flower.
