NE DERBYSHIRE   A Wryneck was trapped and ringed at a private site on 8th Sept. This is the first record since  a brief bird at Long Eaton GP in October 2017. The DOS realises that there may well be comments about the fact news of this bird was not released sooner but the privacy of the site and access for the ringers would have been compromised if this information was released.

CARSINGTON WATER   Two pale phase Arctic Skuas briefly early morning on 1st Sept before they flew off SW. An Osprey on 1/4/10th Sept. Up to 1 Little Egret, 15 Wigeon, 20 Gadwall, 17 Teal, 3 Shoveler, 24 Pochard, 6 Goosander, 2 Hobbies and 1 Peregrine Falcon noted. Single Oystercatchers on 3/8th Sept, a Golden Plover on 5th Sept, a Dunlin on 8th Sept, 7 Black Tailed Godwits on 10th Sept along with a Curlew and 2 Snipe. A second year Yellow Legged Gull on 7th Sept. Up to 1 Tree Pipit, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Redstarts, 3 Wheatears. 4 Spotted Flycatchers and 9 Raven noted.

OGSTON RESERVOIR    The female Garganey still present on 7th Sept with a Ruff and a Greenshank on 8th Sept. An Osprey on 5/8th Sept. Up to 2 Little Egrets, 51 Mandarin, 17 Gadwall, 40 Teal, 3 Shoveler, 3 Pochard, 130 Tufted Duck, 2 Hobbies and 1 Peregrine Falcon noted. A Goosander on 6th Sept with the adult Yellow Legged Gull still present on 4th Sept. A Wheatear on 2nd Sept wth a Spotted Flycatcher on 2/10th Sept.

CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   The juv. Mediterranean Gull still present from 29-31st Aug with on 31st  Aug a Great White Egret, an Osprey, an eclipse drake Garganey and a Caspian Gull present. The drake Garganey still present on 10th Sept. The Osprey again present on 1/3rd Sept with the juv. Mediterranean Gull on 1/2nd Sept with a winter plumage adult on 4th Sept. A juv. Red Kite on 3/6th Sept. A Ringed Plover on 4th Sept with a Green Sandpiper on 1st Sept. Up to 2 Little Egrets, 8 Wigeon, 31 Gadwall, 31 Teal, 5 Shoveler, 22 Common Buzzards, 4 Hobbies, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 2 Dunlin, 8 Snipe, 1 Common Sandpiper and a Water Rail all noted. Two Tree Pipits flew S on 6th Sept with a Whinchat on 10th Sept.   

LONG EATON GP   The Black Necked Grebe still present on 5th Sept. Up to 5 Little Egrets, single Wigeon and Gadwall, 5 Pochard, 187 Tufted Duck and 6 Common Terns noted.

DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE   Still up to 4 Great White Egrets and 30 Little Egrets roosting here with a claim of a Common Crane flying over on 5th Sept.

WILLINGTON GP   The Bittern again on 2nd Sept.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GP   A Black Tailed Godwit and 2 Green Sandpipers on 10th Sept.

HIGHBRIDGE GP   A Garganey on 8/9th Sept.
