CARSINGTON WATER   A large herd of 59 Whooper Swans were here on Mar 3rd and remained until Mar 5th when they flew out mid-morning. Also on Mar 3rd a drake Scaup and 4 Pintail with an adult Little Gull briefly on Mar 5th. The Great Northern Diver still present on Mar. 3rd along with 6 Curlew, a Dunlin, a Ruff and 2 Yellow Legged Gulls.

STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR   A Black Necked Grebe by the dam late afternoon on Mar 4th with an adult Caspian Gull on Mar 2nd.

ST HELENS CHURCHYEAD, DARLEY DALE   An incredible flock of 51 Hawfinches counted, probably a county record flock, here on Mar 2nd . Also 2 flew over a garden near here on Mar. 4th.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   Still 2 Great White Egrets here on Mar 4th along with 1 Little Egret, 2 Shelduck and 15 Curlew. A Barn Owl on Mar 3rd along with 19 Curlew. On Feb. 28th a Dunlin, 23 Curlew and the regular Marsh Tit.

HAWFINCHES    Still 1 in Allestree Park on Mar. 4th with 5 at Shipley CP on Mar. 3rd.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   A herd of 11 Whooper Swans flew through on Mar 1st with 8 there on Mar 4th. Also on Mar. 1st a Jack Snipe, a Ringed Plover, 2 Red Crested Pochards. and 2 Mealy Redpolls.

ST. CHADS WATER   On Feb. 27th 7 Pochard, 20 Tufted Duck and an adult Common Gull.

CHURCH WILNE WATER SKI PIT   On Feb 27th 3 Little Grebes, 8 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Cormorant, 14 Gadwall, 3 Shoveler, 58 Tufted Duck, 4 Goldeneye, 114 Coot and an ad. Common Gull.
