NEWTON SOLNEY   Still 1 Cattle Egret in the usual sheep field by the B5008 Repton-Burton road on 19th Feb. Both birds still present on 17th Feb.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   The Great White Egret still present on 19th Feb. The summer plumage adult Mediterranean Gull also still present on 18th Feb along with 1 Shelduck, 17 Pochard and 8 Goldeneye. On 15th Feb 10 Great Crested Grebes, 19 Cormorants, 2 Little Egrets and the Great White Egret, 4 Grey Herons, 3 Shelduck, 38 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 2 Shoveler, 6 Pochard, 18 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, 1 Goosander, 1 Sparrowhawk, 3 Common Buzzards, 4 Oystercatchers, c300 Lapwing, 3 Curlew, 1 Green Sandpiper, 1 Med. Gull, 11 Common Gulls, 3 Caspian Gulls-2 ads and a 2nd winter, 3 Herring Guylls-1ad and 2 x 1st winters, 3 Great Black Backed Gulls, 2 Stock Doves, 1 Skylark, 1 Stonechat. 1 Marsh Tit and c250 Starlings.

AMBASTON GRAVEL PIT   On 17th Feb 2 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Teal, 17 Tufted Duck, 1 Goldeneye, 1 Smew-“redhead”-back again, 1 Common Buzzard, 3 Snipe and  2 Caspian Gulls-ad- which flew off West.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS   On 16th Feb 2 Little Grebes, 12 Great Crested Grebes, 26 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 17 Mute Swans, 3 Shelduck, 64 Wigeon, 57 Gadwall, 38 Teal, 20 Shoveler, 4 Goldeneye, 7 Smew-3 drakes, 2 Goosander, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Common Gull , 4 Skylarks and 5 Goldfinch.

CARSINGTON WATER   The long staying Great Northern Diver still present on 19th Feb along with 3 Ruff, 7 Oystercatchers and 2 Brambling on the feeders. Up to 5 Ruff and 7 Redshank here within the last week and 2 Jack Snipe and a Curlew on 16th Feb.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   A Knot briefly on 14th Feb arrived during a snow flurry and land on the ice briefly before departing. Up to 2 Goldeneye, 9 Goosander, 4 Oystercatchers recently with 2 Red Kites and a Goshawk on 16th Feb and 18 Golden Plover flew South on 18th Feb.

DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE   The first winter drake Hooded Merganser back here on 18th Feb after an absence of 14 days or so.

SINFIN MOOR WETLANDS   A Ruddy Shelduck on 17th Feb.

ST.HELENS CHURCHYARD, DARLEY DALE   Still 26 Hawfinch on 18th Feb.

ALLESTREE PARK   Still 2/3 Hawfinches around the hall in the Yew Trees on 16th Feb.
