MAM TOR   The Snow Bunting still present on Dec 19/20th.

CHURCH WILNE WATER SKI LAKES   A Black Necked Grebe was found here by the writer late morning on Dec 19th and showed well for about 25minutes when it became more elusive as it started diving. It could not be found despite extensive looking later on but was again present on Dec 21/22nd.  Up to 5 Wigeon, 8 Gadwall, 2 Teal, 9 Pochard, 56 Tufted Duck, 5 Goldeneye and 232 Coot also noted. Please be aware that this site is private and should only be viewed from the main gate when this is locked, CCTV cameras are in operation.

WILNE LANE, CHURCH WILNE   The adult Whooper Swan still present on Dec 22nd with up to 35 Mute Swans.

R.DERWENT, DRAYCOTT   The Ruddy Shelduck present south of the Village with a Greylag Goose flock on Dec 21st.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   Up to 2 Cattle Egrets still present on Trent Meadows on Dec 23rd. A pair of Common Scoters and 3 Stonechats on Dec 21st with a Ring Necked Parakeet on Dec 22nd.. Up to 12 Little Egrets, 2 Egyptian Geese, 3 Goldeneye, 3 Water Rail and 2 Cettis Warblers also noted.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GP   A “redhead” Smew and a Woodcock on Dec 19th. Just a reminder that this site is still strictly private.

ST CHADS WATER   A “redhead” Goosander on Dec 19th.

TWYFORD   The 2 adult Whooper Swans still present in roadside fields with up to 98 Mute Swans on Dec 21/22nd.

WILLINGTON GP   The Bittern still present on Dec 20th.

CARSINGTON WATER   An adult Great NORTHERN Diver-maybe the regular wintering bird-returned on Dec 16th and joined the long staying juv, Both still present on Dec 23rd. A brief Great White Egret on Dec 22nd, also 2 Whooper Swans and 220 Pink Footed Geese flew East. On Dec 19th a Ruff and the Cettis Warbler again heard, A Chiffchaff on Dec 22nd whilst 1777 Common Gulls roosted on Dec 19th. Up to 35 Wigeon, 59 Teal,6 Shoveler, 8 Goldeneye, 1 Peregrine, 1 Water Rail, 3 Woodcock, 2 Redshank, 2 Yellow Legged Gulls, 6 Willow Tits and 35 Siskin noted.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   the 1st White Winged Gull of the winter-an adult Iceland Gull roosted on Dec 16th. Flocks of Pink Footed Greese-24 SW on Dec 21st and c200 East on Dec 22nd. Four Shelduck on Dec 19th.A Goshawk on Dec 22nd and a Merlin on Dec 19/22nd. A lone Golden Plover flew through on Dec 18th and 62 Common Snipe on Dec 17th. A 1st winter Caspian Gull roosted on Dec 21st and a Barn Owl noted on that date, A Chiffchaff on Dec 16/20/22nd. Up to 5 Mandarin, 2 Wigeon, 13 Gadwall,  43 Teal, 11 Shoveler, 1 Pochard. 40 Tufted Duck, 6 Goldeneye, 48 Goosander-possibly a record  county here, 2 Peregrines, 3 Water Rails and a Willow Tit noted.

SHIPLEY PARK   3 Jack Snipe and 39 Snipe on Dec 21st.

YELDERSLEY   A Red Kite on Dec. 19th

CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   The long staying Marsh Tit still present on Dec 20th, one Cettis Warbler on Dec 19/21st and the 2 Chiffchaffs still present on Dec, 22nd. Pink Footed Geese movement noted on Dec 15th-60 flew E, Dec 19th-250 flew NW and on Dec 21st-290 flew NW. A female Mandarin on Dec 21/22nd with a male Shelduck on Dec 23rd  with a Barn Owl on Dec 13/19th. Up to 113 Wigeon, 47 Gadwall, 57 Teal, , 2 Shoveler, 8 Goosander, 40 Snipe, 1 Peregrine and 5 Willow Tits noted.
