CARSINGTON WATER   A Manx Shearwater was found about 8.30.a.m. on 21st Oct on the water of the dam and remained until at least dinnertime. There was no sign of it next morning. This is about the 47th county record. The Slavonian Grebe still present on 23rd Oct off Stones Island. Also on 21st Oct 3 Whooper Swans were found early morning and then 17 flew NE at 9.10.a.m. quickly followed by another 20 about 5 minutes later and 52 Pink Footed Geese flew SE. a Great White Egret and a female Goldeneye on 24th Oct with a Redshank on 26th Oct. Up to 5 Shoveler present.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   A white phase Snow Goose flew through with c80 Pink Footed Geese on 21st Oct. This could well be a truly wild bird that has arrived on the West Coast of the UK  with Pink Footed Geese. Also noted were up to 23 Gadwall, a Goldeneye and 3 Shoveler on 24th Oct and a Chiffchaff on 22/24th Oct.

CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   The Last sighting of the Yellow Browed Warbler was on 19th Oct and was thought to be a second bird. Also a singing CETTIS Warbler and a Barn Owl on that date. On 20th Oct 1550 Pink Footed Geese flew SE in 12 skeins whilst a further 100 flew West, a Dunlin flew NW as did 380 Redwings and 200 Fieldfares. But the highlight was a probable Black Kite which was found South of the observer-Mark Beevers- on the mound, On 21st Oct another 475 Pink Footed Geese flew East with 50 flying North, c35 Whooper Sans flew East, a late Swallow noted and 675 FIeldfares and 385 Redwings flew NW. On 22nd Oct 150 Pink footed Geese flew SE, 3 Goosanders were present and more thrushes-320 Fieldfares and 185 Redwings-flew NW. On 24th Oct 2 Cettis Warblers were calling, a Goosander flew North, 7 Golden Plover flew South and a Jack Snipe noted at dawn. The 2 Cettis  Warblers showed well on 25th Oct with 1 on 27tyh Oct along with 20 Snipe. Also up to 35 Wigeon ,95 Teal, 36 Gadwall, 3 Shoveler, 9 Pochard, 30 Tufted Duck, 5 Water Rails, 3 Peregrines an d4 Chiffchaffs were noted.

WILLINGTON GP   The 3 Bearded Tits again noted on 22nd Oct with 1 Bittern on 21st Oct and 2 on 22nd Oct. A Jack Snipe on 27th Oct with a Green Sandpiper on 23rd Oct. A Fieldfare on 21st Oct with a Brambling on 23rd Oct. Up to 20 Little Egrets, 20 Snipe and 6 Ravens noted.

DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE   A Cattle Egret flew out of roost on 27th Oct with 6 Whooper Swans flying through and 2 Ring Necked Parakeets on 22nd Oct. Up to 4 LITTLE Egrets noted.

LONG EATON GP   The Juv. Scaup still present on 27th Oct on the Wind Surfing Pit. A Great White Egret on 23td Oct and 3 Stonechats on 23rd Oct. Up to2 Little Egrets, 19 Wigeon, 32 Gadwall, 9 Pochard, 12 Tufted Duck , 2 Common Gulls and 5 Cettis Warblers also noted.

SINFIN MOLOR WETLANDS   A colour ringed-red-adult Caspian Gull on 26th Oct and 3 Jack Snipe and 4 Stonechats on 27th Oct.

ASHGBOURNE AIRFIELD   A Jack Snipe on 27th Oct.

SAWLEY   19 Whooper Swans flew over on 26th Oct.

STAVELEY SF   A Ring Ousel on 27th Oct.

FOREMARK RESERVOIR   A drake Common Scoter on 26th Oct.

STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR   An adult Caspian Gull on 24th Oct with 3 Whooper Swans and a Red Kite on 21st Oct with 2 Brambling on 23rd Oct.
