WILLINGTON GP   2 Spoonbills flew SW early morning on 29 Aug watched by 2 lucky observers, Richard James and Dave Richardson from the screen at the end of the lane. The eclipse drake Ring Necked Duck was last seen on 14th Aug. Wader highlights include up to 3 Ruff, 8 Black Tailed Godwits, 10 Dunlin, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Oystercatchers, 4 Green Sandpipers and 2 Common Sandpipers. Today-30th Aug-a juv. Knot, 3 Ruff, 1 Dunlin, 3 Green Sandpipers and a Common Sandpiper. A Great White Egret on 22nd Aug. Up to 3 Yellow Legged Gulls and single Caspian Gulls have ben noted and today-30th Aug-a first winter and a 4th winter Caspian Gull present along with a 1st winter Yellow Legged Gull, 2 Great Black Backed Gulls and an ad. Common Gull. Still 3 juv. Common Terns on 30th Aug along with a Whinchat

WIRKSWORTH   A wholly unconfirmed report of a Golden Eagle circling the town on 28th Aug before flying off NW. This would be the 1st record since 1982 and will require very good notes etc. for it to be accepted.

CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   A juv. Spotted Redshank from 27-30th Aug-the 8th Carr Vale record and the first since 2012. Up to 39 Gadwall, 18 Teal, 1 Peregrine Falcon, 2 Hobbies,2 Water Rails and single Green and Common Sandpipers noted recently. A juv. Marsh Harrier on 21st Aug along with a Tree Pipit and 2 Tree Pipits on 22nd Aug with one on 26th Aug. A juv. Shelduck on 28thAug.

CARSINGTON WATER  Recent wader highlights include a moulting ad. Sanderling on 14th Aug, A juv. Greenshank on 22nd Aug with singles on 24/25th Aug and 2 on 26th Aug, 2 juv. Knot on 27/28th Aug, a Whimbrel on 27th Aug and a Turnstone on 29th Aug. Up to 17 Ringed Plover, 2 Little Ringed Plover, 6 Dunlin, 1 Oystercatcher and 4 Common Sandpipes noted. A Ruddy Shelduck from 23-30th Aug and u to 2 Red Crested Pochards also noted. An Osprey flew through mid-afternoon on 28th Aug. An ad. type Caspian Gull hybrid present most dates along with up to 2 Yellow Legged Gulls. Up to 6 Little Egrets are present and 8 Shelduck on 30th Aug.

OGSTON RESERVOIR    One/two Ospreys present from 14-28th Aug, a Red Kite on 24th Aug, a juv. Marsh Harrier on 22nd Aug and an adult female Honey Buzzard lazily flew through late morning on 21st Aug. Up to 3 Hobbies have been noted most dates and up to 12 Common Buzzards noted. Up to 4 Little Egrets noted along with a Ringed Plover on 22nd Aug, 2 Greenshank on 23rd Aug and a Common Sandpiper on 27th Aug. Up to 2 Yellow Legged Gulls recently and one/two Whinchats on 25/27th Aug.

DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE   A Great White Egret on 14th Aug

EREWASH MEADOWS DWT RESERVE   2 Ruff on 27th Aug with 1 on 28th Aug and a Green Sandpiper on 27th Aug.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   On 22 Aug 21 Little Grebes, 58 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Cormorant, 9 Little Egrets, 4 Grey Herons, 26 Mute Swans, 47 Canada Geese, 8 Teal, 8 Pochard, 113 Tufted Duck, , 1 Common Sandpiper, 6 Common Terns, 1 Kingfisher and a Green Woodpecker.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GP   On 23rd Aug 23 Great Crested Grebes, 9 Cormorants, 4 Grey Herons, 69 Gadwall, 29 Teal, 10 Shoveler, 153 Tufted Duck and a Common Tern.
