NEWTON SOLNEY   The 2 Cattle Egrets were still present on 4th Feb, and spend a lot of their time in the sheep field which can be viewed from a small layby on the B5008 Repton-Burton road just before Newton Solney. Also here have been up to 2 Great White Egrets with a flock of c175 Fieldfares in a stubble field just south of the road on (4th). In addition 2 Shelduck and 2 Oystercatchers have been around the area.

HOWDEN RESERVOIR   The small flock of up to 12 Parrot Crossbills still in Ronsley South Plantation on 3rd Feb with 4 on 4th Feb. Also here a flock of 20+ Common Crossbills.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   Still up to 2 Great White Egrets here on 4th Feb with 2 Bitterns on 3rd Feb and 1 on 4th Feb. Also a report of 20+ Whooper Swans here on 4tth Feb. On 31st Jan 1 Egyptian Goose, 1 Pintail-a female, 2 Oystercatchers and a Curlew. There have been 2 Curlew here within the last week. The wintering Greenshank on 1st Feb along with 5 Redshank and the Marsh Tit still visiting feeders on 3rd Feb.

HIGHBRIDGE GRAVEL PITS   ON 4th Feb 1 Little Grebe, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 190 Wigeon, 5 Gadwall, 11 Teal, 1 Pochard, 24 Tufted Duck, 1 Goosander, 1 Greenshank, c475 Black Headed Gulls, 2 Common Gulls, 37 Lesser Black Backed Gulls, 1 Herring Gull and an adult Caspian Gull.

DRAKELOW DWT RESERVE   The long staying female Long Tailed Duck and the 1st winter drake Hooded Merganser still present on 4th Feb.

ASTON-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS   On 1st Feb 2 Little Grebes, 14 Great Crested Grebes, 24 Cormorants, 3 Grey Herons, 24 Mute Swans, 1 Shelduck, 104 Wigeon, 51 Gadwall, 105 Teal, 4 Shoveler, 3 Pochard, 168 Tufted Duck, 21 Goldeneye, 1 Smew-“redhead”, 3 Goosander, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Jay and a Bullfinch.

STAUNTON HAROLD RESERVOIR   On 2nd Feb 16 Great Crested Grebes, 12 Cormorants, 2 Grey Herons, 107 Greylag Geese, 2 Wigeon,31 Tufted Duck, 1 Kestrel, 4 Oystercatchers, 57 Lapwing,3 Common Gulls, 1 Tree Creeper, 1 Raven,1 Mealy Redpoll with a small, but very mobile flock of c20 Lesser Redpolls.

ST.CHADS WATER   On 30th Jan 17 Wigeon, 2 Pochard and 29 Tufted Duck.

CHURCH WILNE WATER SKI PITS   On 30th Jan 4 Little Grebes, 14 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 18 Gadwall, 9 Pochard, 125 Tufted Duck, 12 Goldeneye, 11 Moorhen 182 Coot and an Oystercatcher.

AMBASTON GRAVEL PIT   On 30th Jan 2 Little Grebes, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 9 Wigeon,5 Tufted Duck and 1 Goldeneye.

SWARKESTONE BRIDGE   2 Egyptian Geese on 2nd Feb.

OGSTON RESERVOIR   An adult Glaucous Gull roosted on 2nd Feb.

DARLEY DALE   Still 16 Hawfinches in St. Helens Churchyard on 2nd Feb in the Yews.

CARSINGTON WATER   The long staying adult Great Northern Diver still present on 4th Feb.  Still up to 3 Oystercatchers, 5 Ruff, 3 Redshank and single Curlew and Dunlin here. A skein of c60 Pink Footed Geese flew West on 5th Feb with 2 Shelduck on 30th Jan.

ALLESTREE PARK   Still 2 Ring Necked Parakeets here on 2nd Feb along with 3 Hawfinches.

RED KITES   Single birds at Hulland on 29th Feb, Bamford on 31st Jan with 2 at Ashbourne on 2nd Feb.

FOREMARK RESERVOIR   A summer plumage adult Mediterranean Gull roosted on 30th Jan.
