WINDGATHER ROCKS, GOYT VALLEY   A Chough was reported to the DOS by an observer called John Dixon on 3rd Aug and confirmed by Tim Phillips late afternoon on 4th Aug. The bird is a juvenile and was still present in the area on 8th Aug. It spends most of it’s time in a sheep field below the Rocks where it shows well and this field is just in Cheshire, the Rocks being the county boundary. This may be one of the two juveniles that were on the Herefordshire/Worcestershire border in late July. Obviously this is a county first and a most unexpected, but very welcome, addition to the Derbyshire list.
