CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   The Siberian Chiffchaff still present along the embankment on 25th Dec.

ELVASTON CASTLE COUNTRY PARK   On 24th Dec 1 Little Grebe, 30 Teal, 6 Shoveler, 3 Goosander, 10 Long Tailed Tits and a Bullfinch.

FOREMARK RESERVOIR   On 24th Dec 8 Great Crested Grebes, 19 Cormorant, 121 Mallard, 6 Tufted Duck, 18 Goosander and 17 Coot. At 4.00.p.m. the Gull roost consisted of the following:- c10,000 Black Headed Gulls, c400 Common Gulls, c1250 Lesser Black Backed Gulls, c750 Herring Gulls, 1 Yellow Legged Gull-1st winter, 2 Caspian Gulls-ads, c100 Great Black Backed Gulls. A 1st winter Mediterranean Gull roosted on 26th Dec. The returning adult Glaucous Gull roosted on 28th Dec.

LOCKO PARK   On 25th Dec 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Cormorant, 2 Grey Heron, 150 Grey Lag Geese, 94 Canada Geese including a possible Lesser Canada Goose, 1 Red Breasted Goose-presumed escape, 1 Mandarin-drake, 16 Tufted Duck, 3 Common Buzzard, 1 Jay.

AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS   On 26th Dec 1 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 24 Mute Swans, 89 Wigeon, 11 Gadwall, 12 Teal, 1 Pochard, 15 Tufted Duck, 2 Jack Snipe, 7 Common Snipe, c70 Wood Pigeon, 1 Grey Wagtail, c20 Fieldfare, c5 Redwing and a Bullfinch.. On 24th Dec 2 Jack Snipe and 5 Common Snipe.

CARSINGTON WATER   The adult Great Northern Diver still present on 28th Dec.

BEELEY MOOR   The Great Grey Shrike still present on Beeley Triangle on 28th Dec. It has recently had  a lucky escape when it was pursued by a Sparrowhawk.

WILNE LANE, CHURCH WILNE   The Great Grey Shrike tre-appeared and showed well on 28th Dec.

CROMFORD WHARF AREA   The first returning Hawsfinches-3 of them-were found by Alan Wragg on 27th Dec after a 90 minute search.

LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   On 27th Dec 2 Little Grebes, 22 Great Crested Grebes,  1 Cormorant, 2 Little Egrets, 4 Grey Herons, 2 Grey Lag Geese, 2 Egyptian Geese, 51 Wigeon, 5 Gadwall, 16 Teal, 4 Shoveler, 28 Pochard, 176 Tufted Duck, 6 Goldeneye, 3 Goosander,  1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel and 3 Common Gulls.

ST CHADS WATER   On 27th Dec 10 Tufted Duck and a Bullfinch.

CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR   On 27th Dec 9 Little Grebes, 26 Great Crested Grebes,45 Cormorant, 2 Grey Herons, 4 Mute Swans, 6 Gadwall, 5 Pochard, 112 Tufted Duck, 11 Goldeneye, 310 Coot and 15 Common Gulls,

WILLINGTION GRAVEL PITS   On 28th Dec 1 Little Grebe, 6 Great Crested Grebes, 22 Cormlorants, 4 Grey Lag Geese, 1 Shelduck, 156 Wigeon, 6 Gadwall, 70 Teal, 1 Shoveler, 22 Tufted Duck, 6 Goldeneye, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Kestrel, 2 Water Rails, 28 Snipe, 1 Herring Gull-3rd winter, 1 Caspian Gull-ad, 2 Kingfishers, 2 Rooks and 3 Bullfinches.
