Another good spring day with nocturnal  arrivals followed by diurnal comings & goings; 6 Shelduck ( 4 joined by 2 more during the day), 4+ Mandarins, 4 + Gadwall, 2 Teal, a Goosander through, 12 Cormorants, a Little Egret briefly at 1045-55, eight species of raptor, the usual three plus Osprey(s) at 1105 & 1425, ad male Goshawk over the car park at 1130, Hobby at 1305, a female Marsh Harrier NE at 1340-50 and finally a Red Kite SE at 1515, usual Oykers with a pair and at least one chick on the bank in Chapel Bay, 6+ LRPlovers, 3 Ringed Plovers, 3 Dunlin, 7 Common Sands, a beautiful Wood Sand in at 1140, 2 Redshank, 3 Greenshank, 2 Curlews, c 15 LBBGulls, 2 GBBGulls & single Yellow-legged, Herring and Common Gulls, 2 Common Terns plus two ‘Commics’ early morning thought to be Arctics, a Reed Warbler singing in atypical habitat behind the Public Hide and 3 Yellow Wags.
