In the midst of all of today’s work party activity there was still time to note the following wildlife:
Birds: Blackcap, Blue Tit, Carrion Crow, Chaffinch, Chiffchaff, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Great Tit, Jay, Mallard, Moorhen, Pheasant, Song Thrush, Swift, (Common) Whitethroat, Woodpigeon, Wren.
Butterflies: Green-veined White, Large Skipper, Meadow Brown (first for this year), Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell (larvae), Speckled Wood.
Moths: Silver-ground Carpet, Straw Dot, and a lot of male and female Yellow-barred Longhorn Nemophora degeerella. The males of the latter species have the longest antennae of any British moth. Also a Chimney Sweeper in the neighbouring Jolly Cobbler field.
Damselflies: Azure, Blue-tailed, Large Red.
Other invertebrates: 7-spot Ladybird, Cardinal Beetle, Malachite Beetle, Spiked Shieldbug, Strawberry Snail.
