JMNR Sightings – 23 August 2019

Week 21 of the butterfly transect was carried out by Paul Beard, 11:20, 23°C, clear skies, wind SW B2.

A total of 26 butterflies were recorded as follows: 1 Large White, 1 Small White, 5 Green-veined White, 1 Small Copper, 3 Common Blue, 4 Painted Lady, 6 Peacock, 3 Comma, 1 Speckled Wood, 1 Gatekeeper.

“An interesting collection of butterflies this morning, best count I have had on site for Painted Lady and best number of Common Blue for sometime.

Ian is making a great job of the butterfly bank, which seems to be getting bigger and better.

Also on site, 1 Brown Hawker, 1 Southern Hawker, 1 Common Hawker and many Common Darter.”
