JMNR Sightings – 3rd July 2019

Week 14 of the butterfly transect was carried out by John Parlby – 14:14, 21°C clear skies

A total of 44 butterflies were seen as follows: 1 Small Skipper, 2 Large Skipper, 2 Gatekeeper, 34 Meadow Brown, 1 Ringlet, 1 unidentified white, 3 unidentified brown.

Additional sightings Nikki M 16:15 Wind B1, 19°C, clear

17 Meadow Brown, 10 Ringlet, 5 Large Skipper, 2 Speckled Wood, 2 Yellow Shell, 2 Lattice Heath, Shaded Broad-bar, unidentified white, Azure damselfly, Large Red damselfly.

Chiffchaff, Blue tit, White Throat, Moorhen (Hide pond).

Tadpoles Middle Pond.

In Flower: Meadow Vetchling, Woundwort, Scabious, Spear Thistle, Tufted Vetch, Foxglove, Stitchwort sp., Buttercup, Hogweed, Meadowsweet, Red Campion, Marsh Orchid, hybrid Marsh/Common Spotted orchid, Bush vetch, Speedwell, Ragwort, Common Vetch, Monkey Flower, Ox-eye Daisy, Red Clover, Cut-leaf Cranesbill, Dog Rose.

Alder tongue gall (caused by the fungus Taphrina alni).
