Free parking on the approach road to the station (see map).

This is one of the club’s regular trips with a wide variety of birds to be seen including typical woodland birds with a good chance of seeing goldcrest, common redstart and flycatchers (possibly even a wood warbler), on the fringes of the woodland hopefully tree pipits and in the more open spaces, the chance of green woodpecker, stonechat, whinchat and cuckoo.   The trip involves a 4 mile walk (although shorter alternatives that link with the main walk can be arranged) through some of the lesser known parts of the Padley Gorge area (see Trip Reports on this website for the write ups from previous years).
Suggest walking boots as some of the paths are rough and can be muddy.

Lunch is available at Grindleford Station (the cafe with attitude) where it’s great to be able to mull over the successes and failures of the morning.
